I was wondering how to get the shovel I had to start over because my character didnt look anything like me, and I am stuck with just a fishingpole and a net for right now. Will it eventually show up? Thanx

It's supposed to show up sooner or later, each town sells everything differently so it might take a few days for it to show up. You could ask someone to get you one though (and if you have WiFi, he can go to your town and give it to you)

Good advice thanks! I'm thinking it will probably be awhile till I get the golden shovel though. Durn.

You get the golden shovel by burying a regular shovel overnight.
