Umm... I thought Depth was when you can see that something is looking like it's going away from you and something is coming closer to you... Not really 3dness... Just more like

Quote:
a dimension taken through an object or body of material, usually downward from an upper surface, horizontally inward from an outer surface, or from top to bottom of something regarded as one of several layers.
It's like showing something actually has some form... like stair steps... They go up but as they go father up they look smaller... It's a hard concept... Just didn't seem right how you put it... Meh I may be wrong in the end, that's just what I thought.

It's actually one of the simpler things to understand IMO.
Logically, things that are farther away will be smaller, blurrier, and less focused in proportions to the things closer to you in a piece. Obviously, you wouldn't want to make your focal in the BG and have it not focused, so usually your focal will be in the foreground and be sharper and more focused than the BG effects, stocks,
c4ds, etc.

By blurring and objects in a piece it will usually give the illusion of a sort of depth in your tag or whatever you make. Sharpening something will make it stick out and add focus.. making it seem closer.

There is more you can do to add depth, but sharpening/blurring are probably the most common.

Yet isn't that not true depth... Cause if you blur it you just have bad eyesight... I think depth as something more far away from you and gradually gets blurry... and harder to see certain details... But doesn't matter what I think... In other words it's farther away like the planets lining up if you look directly at it. The first Planet is huge and takes up a big part of the picture... Well the other planets lined up get smaller and smaller and naturally get blurry because they are so small on the picture and don't need the blur... But whatever in the end tis what it is. Peace

If you look at an artistic photograph you'll see how the focal point stands out and the things that aren't the focal are usually blurry and unfocused.

As you look at the photos notice how the focal point stands out and how focused it is compared to how the rest of the image is

Now-a-days though, depth is actually out of style in tags. So its not as important as it once was

But you can always bring it back ...

Edit:Plus what you said just brings out the focal then...

To add what you were talking about the 2nd picture is just bringing out what you want to show more then actually depth... Well the first picture is depth...=/ Never mind it's all good in the end. If it looks good what's there to argue :P...

Unfortunately. I know a tag that has great depth but I can't find it. IMO, it definitely makes a tag better if planned out, but its not so much the trend now..

Pretty good mate.

I have to say that your text can be what makes or breaks a sig, never rush it, or it'll ruin the overall effect.
