New Wii

I heard a new Wii is coming out in 2011-2012,it will have better sound and HD graphics and more storage in memory.Do you think think people should get it or not?

Well if not if it's like the DS -> DSi transition, with subtle differences, just a little upgraded. But if it's like the GCN -> Wii transition, then yeah, I probably would.

It also should still support backwards compatibility for Wii games, like the Wii does for GCN games. Or, how about support GCN AND Wii games both?

Yeah, it would be worth buying if it was greatly improved, and they actually named it something cool... the original wii was supposed to be the Revolution ... but honestly if they named it the Wii 2 then no one should buy it ... yes, because of the games as well ... I don't see them changing the games to be way better like the classics anytime soon ...

Many analyst are saying that this is going to be the last generation of consoles for quite while. It seems like all three companies are instead just adding peripherals to their consoles, like Motion Plus and Natal.

I reason I see this happening is because the Wii is still in the lead by a ton, the PS3 already saw that the most advance technology doesn't equal the highest sales, and MS is still releasing major upgrades to their 360.

In the end it doesn't matter what analysts think ... the companies will do what they want to. Especially if they think that they will get a lot more revenue. Which in this case they would probably make a lot more if they made the systems better. They should listen to the consumers in order to make a way better product

yeah but the data you have on your old wii cant be transferd to the new wii.

its true that companies will do what they want but when the new wiis come out whats going to happen to all of the originals? seeing that if the new wii can play wii/gc discs

Well, analysts' job is to research the market and the companies so they can accurately predict their next move...so in a way, yeah, it kinda does matter what analyst think. Not all analyst, but I can see the next generation of consoles being pretty far away.

You never really know though... It could be pretty far away, but it may just be right around the corner... there is no accurate way to predict the future without a shadow of a doubt

One big question is why Nintendo would be rushing to put out a new console when the Wii is selling at unbelievable levels.

Well we don't even know what the system will be like yet ... I would wait until a better understanding of what the system's capabilities are is in order... especially before anyone make a rash judgment... I am kinda interested to see what it can do ... my main hope is that Nintendo pulls their head out of the sand, and actually starts making good games again and some better graphics would be nice as well ... and the wii mote/nun chuck was fun ... but kinda fail imo >.>

Yeah, it wasn't that great. Kinda unorthadox. But now that I only play Brawl, I hardly ever use those two controllers anymore. And I don't think I've ever used the classic controller. I'm sorta a GCN controller whore (except for MKWii).
