My dad just woke me up as I was falling asleep. He goes "Dont update the wii!" So I'm like I did about 6 hours ago. Then he told me why.
I don't really play games on it anyway. But I hope its ok. Its like XBox Red Ring Of death outbreak again

Nor does it change the fact that if Nintendo simply gave these people the stuff they want, such as a DVD Channel, ability to listen to MP3s, patches for games so people aren't forced to hack games like Animal Crossing due to Nintendo's incompetence (my only reason for having the channel), and gave us the VC games we want, all of which are clearly possible (except partially the last one), people would have no reason to modify their Wii in the first place. Cheating in games and outright piracy, I can understand targeting, but this idea of all Homebrew users being evil pirates that must be stopped at all costs is just wrong.

Well as much as I hate Nintendo screwing with people's consoles...
I think Nintendo has the right to do updates when they want... sure they've screwed peoples systems up--those who DONT use Homebrew--but if people hadn't started to HACK and use Homebrew in the first place--Nintendo wouldnt have needed to do updates that nullified consoles completely but Nintendo's been against cheating/hacking of ANY kind for like 15 years so PEOPLE WHO USE HACKS AND HOMEBREW--DON'T!!

It is also unfortunate that certain people utilize something that breaks the rules for positive reasons. However, the rules are rules, even if we think they are unfair, and find ways to get around the rules, doesn't instantly mean that those of us who believe that are right. Both parties are probably right to a certain extent, but if you think about it, Nintendo can't really counter piracy by simply targeting each pirating software or distributors of pirated games, that is completely inefficient and probably more ineffective than just taking out homebrew all together. Without homebrew, their and the other companies that have money invested into their product is safe. It's just that plain and simple. |

i dont know if the update is the cause of this but soon after i updated the wii i started to get black pixelated dots all over my screen. it started in the menu and soon started it when i played games too... very annoying.... also i noticed that it wouldnt load games all the time like it couldnt find the disk or something.. and it freezes up alot now.... dont know if it is the update or what.... i havent talked to a rep yet but i think it is going to cost about 75 bucks to fix warrenty just ran out....bad thing is that a simmiler thing happened to me before under warrenty and nintendo sent me a new wii but made it a point not to tell me what was wrong with it...
