Wii Update 4.2 Killing Wii's Dead

He's wondering if his Wii is going out because of update 4.2 right? Nintendo has said "As long as you didn't do anything illegal, and you feel that it was the update that bricked your Wii, we will fix it regardless or warranty."

Does anyone know if the update is still killing wiis?? Cause I wanted to update it today so that I could get my free game but I'm scared to update it and not have anything to play with over the holiday break

you can get a wad of the new shop channel most likley... and possible an unoffical patch made by hackers lets you get the update without the killing part. though im unsure.

I have yet to hear of anyone who has personally had their Wii brick over this update. There have been stories but no one has said "yes, this has happened to me".

To put it in perspective, I updated despite having Homebrew and nothing happened. Homebrew was wiped but they already have a new version that get's pass it.
