NOTICE!
The purpose of this thread is similar to past threads, but they all died due to them probably doing everything off-thread leaving the thread to just die, and fewer, and fewer people know about it, and it ends up dying. So to keep this thread from dying too quickly, let's try to keep tips, strategy conversations, and etc all on the thread if possible.

As not only will it keep us active, but be able to help future brawlers if they happen to come across the good information.

To the chase:

In case it wasn't already made clear, the goal of this thread is for beginners to quickly advance with certain characters by playing those of the same character, either in dittos, or a character they can keep up with, and gradually learn more about the certain character. What have you.

If you feel you are good enough to tutor people, please follow this format, and i will post it in the appropriate area.

Example: (you don't add color yourself, but this is how it will look after you give it to me)

Please follow the format, as it will make things much easier, and simpler for everyone here. And note, you do not need to make an application to ask to be tutored by someone.

Q&A:

How do I know which i am?(Intermediate, advanced, or helpful on low, or high?) :

Intermediate would be that you do decent in advanced/competitive play, but not so much that you can really be considered "of the best"

Advanced would be someone I'd REALLY hope to have tutoring people here, but we have few active advanced people on this site. An example would be haven, or King of boos.

I will not ask, nor question you depending on your skill level when you post, so please, be truthful.

In terms of helpfulness:

Low: Would be that you very rarely would like to tutor said person, and will only do so when the mood strikes, or are able: Take into account your actual ability to help, since we have a lot of people in school right now, and might not be able to tutor people as often as you'd like. So in special notes, be sure to explain the situation if you have one. Something like "if you see me on, contact me, and i should be free"

Medium: Kind of subjective here, but to give examples of medium would be myself. On often, yet not often in the mood to brawl. Another example, not on as often, but usually in the mood to brawl. Again, it's subjective, so please use your best judgment when applying.

High: On often. Almost always wanting to brawl. Very willing to help for SPECIFIC character training. I want to make this clear, since i bet a lot of people who want to brawl often, also like to use different characters. Please do not when training people for specific character use.

My tutor isn't as good/active as he/she says, what should I do?:

Contact me, and I will try to ascertain for myself their skill level, be it playing them myself, or finding out from someone else. But please do not do this to just embarrass people.

As i know there are brawlers on this site who are like that. Please make sure they are at the proper skill level, even if barely. Just because you may be better than them and don't feel you are at the proper skill level, isn't enough.

As for activity, I will ask, and see for myself, and then edit his level of activity in the thread.

You don't have a good enough/any tutor for the character I want! :

We are still in the early phases, and this site isn't as popular with AA brawlers as others. So it may take some time. In the mean time, if they aren't just good enough, why not offer up your services?

Methods of tutoring!

1: What I personally use most of the time is extensive brawl matches. Not consecutive 3 stock matches. But bbout 15-99 stock matches. Consecutive matches give them what I call "cool down time" Meaning a lot of the skills they just saw a few times, just once, maybe not even at all in that last match, were forgotten in lieu of being anxious to try to win the next match.

Extensive matches also force them to use other methods of fighting, and kill moves since their main ones will quickly turn stale, as well as predictable by the other opponent. Whereas the tutor could keep using more advanced tactics until the student catches on and starts to learn to avoid it, and see how useful the AT of their character is.

In short, extensive matches should teach them to...

A: Learn new playstyles!
B: To be less predictable
C: Learn more ATs/Strategies with other characters.
D: Even more?

Now there IS an obvious downside... the length. On average, a 99 stock match could take anywhere from an hour, to two, maybe even three. So i suggest doing this only once in a while, but keep it consistent. Doing it right after another will more than likely just tire you both out, so try to keep it to a weekly, or semi-weekly regimen.

Not consecutive 3 stock matches. But bbout 15-99 stock matches. Consecutive matches give them what I call "cool down time" Meaning a lot of the skills they just saw a few times, just once, maybe not even at all in that last match, were forgotten in lieu of being anxious to try to win the next match. Extensive matches also force them to use other methods of fighting, and kill moves since their main ones will quickly turn stale, as well as predictable by the other opponent. Whereas the tutor could keep using more advanced tactics until the student catches on and starts to learn to avoid it, and see how useful the AT of their character is. In short, extensive matches should teach them to... A: Learn new playstyles! B: To be less predictable C: Learn more ATs/Strategies with other characters. D: Even more? Now there IS an obvious downside... the length. On average, a 99 stock match could take anywhere from an hour, to two, maybe even three. So i suggest doing this only once in a while, but keep it consistent. Doing it right after another will more than likely just tire you both out, so try to keep it to a weekly, or semi-weekly regimen. -------------------------- Be sure to tell me your own teaching style/ideas for teaching styles, and I'll put em down!
