This is a Strategy Guide for the "Stage Builder" feature in the video game
"Super Smash Bros. Brawl" on the Nintendo Wii console. I encourage readers to ask any questions they may have. I will answer them as best as I can in the Q and A Section. If there's anything you know about custom stages that you feel should be added to this guide, then feel free to post your thoughts below. The Basics
Here's just a few guidelines you should follow with a custom stage: In most cases, fall-through platforms should be a maximum of 2 spaces above and below each other. Excessive amounts of falling blocks shouldn't be used without a good amount of solid ground to balance things out. Unless you are using the auto falling block trick. Don't place springs pointing at nothing unless you specifically want them as an obstical or if you're using them for spawn manipulation purposes. Last edited by lordviro64; 11-23-2009 at 02:28 PM. Stage Parts
Floors Fall-Through Platforms (Horizontal) Sizes = 1x1, 2x1, 3x1 Boudaries = Same Special = Fall-Through These are usually found hanging over solid structures. Fall-Through Platforms (Angled) Sizes = 1x1, 2x1, 3x1 Boudaries = 1x2, 2x2, 3x2 (one above) Special = Fall-Through These are fun to use in conjuction with each other to make curve-like shapes. Fall-Through Platforms (Alt-Horizontal) Sizes = 1x1, 2x1, 3x1 Boudaries = Same Special = Fall-Through Half a space lower than normal horizontal platforms. They also have slightly less width. Square Blocks Sizes = 1x1, 2x2, 3x3 Boundaries = Same Special = Edge-Grab THESE ARE AWESOME!!! No matter how boring they may seem, they're really the whole back-bone of a good stage! Stairs Sizes = 1x1, 2x1, 3x1 Boudaries = 1x2, 2x2, 3x2 (one above) These are the same as Angled FT Platforms but without the Fall-Through function. They have a jagged edge that looks just like a set of stairs. Ramps Sizes = 1x1, 2x2, 3x3, 2x1, 3x1, 4x1 Boudaries = 1x2, 2x3, 3x4, 2x2, 3x2, 4x2 (one above) These are the same as Angled FT Platforms but without the Fall-Through function. Structures Random Scenery that give detail. Vary depending on theme. There's always one you can walk under. Features Last edited by lordviro64; 11-23-2009 at 02:15 PM. Reason: Update |

I use this trick all the time! When your making a stage with very precise dimensions, Use Mario's UP-Special and Fire Balls to find the height and width of stuff. Up-B = 2 blocks upwards Fire Ball = 4 blocks sideways For example, say your trying to find the width of Final Destination so you can make a stage exactly twice as wide. first, I would go to F.D. with Mario and stand EXACTLY on the edge while facing inwards. Then, I use his fire ball and discover that it stops right in the center. So if 1 fire ball (4 blocks) reaches halfway across F.D., then 8 blocks is the total width. I multiply that by 2 to get 16 blocks. And that makes a stage EXACTLY 2 times the width of Final Destination. Heres a list of stage dimensions I already know: Final Destination Width = 8 Battlefield Width = 8 Middle Platform Height = 2.5 Middle Platform Width = 1.8 Side Platform Height = 1.25 Side Platform Width = 2 Last edited by lordviro64; 11-23-2009 at 02:23 PM. Other Random Tips and Tricks
Automatic Falling Blocks: If you have a set of falling blocks near the top of the stage you can make them fall on their own by having items on, thus, pushing down foes to their doom. Set Items on HIGH and set up networks of conveyor belts to increase the process. Apparently, there's a trick where you can come up through the bottom of stairs with the Ice Climbers. I haven't quite figured it out yet. Last edited by lordviro64; 11-23-2009 at 02:33 PM. Reason: Update |
