Possibility of a new Custom Stage Competition?

In order to revive this section, I was thinking we could have a Custom Stage Competition once again..the last one was held by Pac_cap in November 2008, and that's been nearly 10 months since the most previous one. Before the next one can be made, we need to think about what kind of stage layout that will be the theme for this specific competition. Will it be open, closed, round, etc? I've noticed that an increased amount of users have been getting Homebrew as of lately, but I want this competition to be fair. If you're possibly interested to join, please provide ideas that may ultimately benefit the formation of this as a whole.

Here is an example here if you do not know how it works. I will describe it more in detail in case clarifications need to be made.

First, you're going to have a theme. This may be open(meaning opponents could actually fly out of the stage due to height circumstances or etc.), closed(in which opponents can't actually die at all), and miscellaneous stage shapes: in the shape of a circle, a parallelogram, etc. The stage has to fit the format of the theme, no matter which theme it is.

Edit: Manlyguy also provided more helpful themes as well.

Second, you want to provide an image of your stage. This could range from taking a picture of it, or uploading it via SD card.

Lastly, you want to provide a short description. You should give the stage a title, and talk about either the basic layout, or etc.

After everything has been submitted by all participants, we then look at each stage and determine which stage had the most creativity, or well done the most.

i see cant we just do one with out a theme like anybody can use any stage since its been so long since theres been one

I've actually been waiting for one of these to come up for a while now. I make a ton of Custom Stages, so this interests me.

I'm thinking that for the themes, it can be N64 Stage remakes, Melee stage remakes, or best use of ladders.

I'll post some more later. There's plenty to come up with...

It'd be easier on the judges/voters if there's a theme because it'd help narrow down certain aspects of the stage that they're judging. For example, stages that are meant to be played mainly in the air will be judged on how effective it is as keeping the characters in the air and mobile, or stages that are more fun for certain items such as soccerballs, and judging how useful and fun that stage would be for soccerballs based on the stage-layout.

How about best character themed? Like design a stage that'd represent a certain character. Things to judge on would be how well the stage represents the character, how well the character would do there in a brawl, etc. The character could be determined by judges or left open for the participant to decide. Then they would post the character they chose along with the stage.

I'm thinking we could start out with something basic, such as Mario-themed(Credit given to RTY for this idea) and we could build from there.
