AWARDS

- Everyone has one how do I get one?

Honestly, it is quite easy to get awards. All you really have to do is be active. If you must know exactly how to get a specific award, or you want to see all of them in their glory you can check them out HERE.

- Can you make a (insert name here) award

Why yes we can, but that doesn't mean we will. Our award system is more or less based on milestones for our members. If your award idea is something that anyone can get on the first day they join, it probably will not be used. If it is an award for a tournament, we will make sure to have one for the completion of any official Nintendo World tournament.

If you still think your award idea should be used, please make sure to include the following things in your request
- A good descriptive name
- A well thought out reasoning behind the award
- Images to use with it. An icon (For display case) A larger image (For award list)

- Someone got an award early?!? Why?

Please keep in mind that our awards are not given out automatically; Moderators have to physically check the requirements and give out the awards manually. Errors may some times occur...

This happens mostly with the Contributing Member Award. We do not hover over everyones account and wait for them to get the exact numbers required. If someone is really close we will at our own discretion give it to them a little early.

- What is with the Pokemaniac award? Can I get one?

This award was a once in a lifetime thing and will never be given out again.

- I (or a friend) have passed the requirements for an award, why haven't I received it?

This also somewhat goes along with people getting awards early. We have over 10,000 members and we can not watch everyones account all the time. If you (or a friend) have been overlooked for an award let one of the Global Moderators or Administrators know. If an award has more then 1 requirement ie. 3 Months AND 500 posts, you must meet BOTH requirements before getting them.

Please do not request awards that are not due. We will make sure they are justified before giving them out.

FORUM USAGE

- There used to be a 40 character minimum post limit? What happened to it?

This limit originally was set to help cut down on spam, and help make posts more worthwhile for everyone.

While this was helpful somewhat with the forum, it also carried over to things like profile comments, where it wasn't needed. So in good faith we have removed the minimum limit.

- My post or thread was deleted! Why?

There can be many reasons for this. The most common reason a post is deleted is because it did not meet our quality standards. This includes but is not limited to being completely off topic, using things such as (typing this because i didn't have 40 characters lolololololololol), or trash talking and/or flaming.

The most common reasons a thread will be deleted are, It's Identical to another thread. This happens all the time, some moderators will just close it and put a link to the already existing thread, some will just delete it. This is solely up to the moderator of the forum the thread was in. Threads that have no point, or can not be responded to will also likely be deleted.

- My Thread got locked?!?

This usually happens in threads that ask a question. Once the question is answered the moderators will most likely close it to keep people from filling it with spam. Threads will also be locked if the topic is covered in another thread. (See previous statement on deleted threads also)

- Someone made an inappropriate post what should I do?

On every post in the forum there is a "Report post" button (It looks like a Triangle with a red outline with a black ! in the center). Pressing that button will send messages to all moderators of that forum to let them know that post has been flagged as inappropriate. You can also try the chat room and see if any moderators for that forum are in there. The global moderators and Administrators spend a lot of time in there, so if it is something that needs taken care of right away, check the chat room first.

- The thread i want to make falls under more then 1 forum category.

This is alright, and heres a good rule of thumb. If its about a specific game, and we have a forum for it, put it in there. If thats not the case, go for the forum that closest fits your thread. If by chance one of the moderators feels it would better fit another forum, they will move it. Don't worry if it gets moved, its not a big deal, and we wont hold it against you.

- I just made X posts and my post count didn't go up!

We have a number of forums that have had post count disabled in them. This is not because we do not want you posting in them, it is actually because there are so many posts made in these forums that its not fair to everyone to have them enabled. These forums include Announcements, Pokemon Trade, Pokemon Battle, and Forum Games.

- Can you add a forum for (Insert game name)

I'm sorry but will probably will not. We only add forums for the most popular games. If there is a need for it, we will add it.

- What is with the Lv. bar under my name? How to i make it fill up?

The Lv. bar is a way to show off how many posts you have made. Its just a fun little thing some forum have. To make it go up all you have to do is post in the forums.

What is with the little words directly under my name? Why does it keep changing?

That is your user title. Its another fun thing most forums have. As you post you will notice that your title changes. We will not give out the list of user titles, or how many posts it takes to reach each one, so please do not ask. Let it be a little surprise for you when you post.

- I have a technical question that is not listed here.

Friend codes, Profiles, and Signatures

How do I get those cool little icons in my posts that have my Friend code in it?

Very very easily. Just go into your Control panel by clicking the "CP" button at the top of the page, Click "Edit Profile and Friend codes" on the left of the new page, and enter your codes in the box for that game.

- Some people have customized profiles, why can't I do it?

This is a feature reserved for V.I.P.s

- I can't put up a profile picture...

This is another one of those features that is reserved for V.I.P.s

Where can I get a cool signature image?

We actually have a full group of people who are dedicated to making signatures for our member. If you'd like one check out their forum HERE, and make a request in ONE of the shops

- I can't get my banner for my signature to work, can you help me?

A lot of people have problems getting their sig to work right the first time. Heres a quick run threw on how to get it to work
-make sure your sig is no larger then 450x150 pxls
-upload your image to a site like photobucket
-insert the IMG link into your sig
It should look something like this [ IMG]www.addressofpic.com[ /IMG]

Consult this tutorial for an in depth look.

If all else fails and you can't figure it out, ask one of the Global Moderators, or Administrators.

- Can you allow us to put music players on our profile?

The short answer here is no.

I have (Insert game name here) but there is no friend code field in my profile.

There could be a few reasons for this. If it is a DS game, this is because we only put up the most popular codes. Wii games on the other hand, we have been making them available for all games. If your game is not released in the EU or US, we will not have a code for it, until it is. If it has been released in the EU or US please let an Administrator know and we will get it fixed as soon as we can.

- Can I trade friend code on the forum?

This is the whole reason Nintendo Worlds came to be. A friendly place to trade the dreaded Nintendo friend codes. If you want to trade Wii system codes we have a forum dedicated to just that. We also have forums dedicated to popular games also (Wii and DS). If there is not a forum for the game your looking to trade codes in, just use the "Other Wii Wifi Games" or "Other DS Wifi Games" forums. Chances are there is already a list going for your game.

-I went through the list for a game and added a bunch of people, why can't I play with them?

Friend codes only work if both people have added each other. If you add someone make sure they have, or will add you. If you do not you will of wasted your time.

- I added someone to my Wii and they said they added me. Why can't we send messages?

Simply put. It could take up to 24 hours before both Wiis have made contact with each other and verified that you both have added each other. Give it some time and it will work.

CHAT

- I tried to use the chat on my Wii, but it kept freezing on me.

Flashchat on the Wii is unstable at best. This is a flaw with the Opera browser the Wii uses. You can try to use it if you'd like, but don't expect it to work well. We are sorry about this, but there is nothing we can do about it.

- What are the rules for the chat room?

The rules are conveniently located just below the room itself.

- All these people in chat have colored names and text, but mine is white, can I change it.

Only VIPs and staff are allowed to change their color. When we started using flash chat people abused the colors. Because of this they have been taken away from members. If you are not sure what the different colors mean, look below the chat room. There will be a list of what color represents what user group.

Can I have a cool icon next to my name, and what I say in chat?

This is another one of those things that is for VIP use only. Staff are allowed to use them to, only because the vast majority of our staff was a VIP at some point.

- I see Pokelounge listed as a room, how do i get in there?

At the top of the page there is a pull down menu. Just select the room you want and you'll be in it.

- People won't trade codes with me in the chat. Whats the deal?

Most of the people who spend a lot of time in the chat room have had their Wii address book full for quite some time. Others are picky about who they add. If you spend enough time in the chat room, and do not spam stuff like "I want to trade codes you with trade codes with me" over and over, you'd be surprised at how quick you'll make friends in there who will be eager to trade codes with you.

- I have been banned from chat. What did I do?

Nine times out of Ten the person who banned you will give a reason when they ban you. Some of the Moderators and Administrators take the rules very seriously. Depending on the nature of the problems you have or are causing, you may get 1 warning. After that do not be surprised if you get banned for doing it again. If you have been banned before, you will not get a warning, and will be banned on the spot.

- I am banned from chat, but I have not even been in there for days.

This is because someone who shares an internet connection with you has been banned from chat. We're sorry that it works this way. Take it up with the person who shares your internet.

- Someone said they will ban me.

Unless this person has a Green or Pink name in chat they can not do so. Please report any instances of these threats directly to Tepxic.

- Someone is harassing me in chat, how do i make them stop?

The chat comes with a very handy Ignore feature. Just click the persons name, then click Ignore. You can not put some people on ignore ie. staff.

- I put someone on ignore, but it did not work.

If this happens please contact a Moderator or Administrator. Please make sure to have proof of their harassment ready to show them.

- Whats the password for the VIP room?

If your not a VIP you do not need to know this. Please do not ask.

- What is Trolling and flaming?

Let just put it this way, be nice to people and you won't have to worry about it.

I speak more then one language, is it alright for me to use anything other then English in chat?

While we do not mind that you speak something other then English is the side rooms amongst friends, it is best to only use English in the Lounge or main game rooms. This is to keep the chance of misunderstandings of translation (or lack thereof) down.

Absolutely not. WiiPals.net has always been free and will always be so. Ive even hesitated to put up ads in certain places. The program is simply for people who wish to contribute to do so and to receive a special thank you. Nothing more, nothing less.


"I dont care about all this "contribute to the community" poppycock. What do I get?!"

Don't think of the VIP program as a product or service you buy.. its more of a Thank You to our very generous members.

Below are the items you'll receive for donating to WiiPals.net. You'll notice that none of them significantly alter your experience here at the Forums and nor will they ever. Again.. they are simply a special thanks.

-A custom VIP banner for your signature

-The ability to change your Title to anything you choose

- If I donate does that make me excluded from the rules?

Simple answer no. Long answer, While we are ever thankful of your donation, we can not have people thinking they are above the rules. We will treat you just like every other member when it comes to rules. Even us on staff (Yes even the Administrators) have to follow the same rules.

- People in chat will not listen to me when I tell them they did something wrong.

While it is great that you are looking out for the chat room, it is not your job to tell someone they did something wrong. It also does not help the situation when everyone says something at once. Please let the Moderators and Administrators deal with any problems that arise.

-I understand that VIPs get 1 name change, but some have changed their names more then once. Why do they get to do so?

For making a donation over $.99 after becoming VIP, we allow them to have another name change if they are not happy with the one they had picked previously.

The Official Inside Scoop on How to Become A Part of WiiPals Staff!

A lot of people have been asking this lately as we've been getting more moderators for individual forums.

Here are some answers:


-Most moderators are VIPs first-

While this is not required it does greatly increase your chances. You have access to the VIP forum, and most of all you are showing your interest and investment in the site! There are a couple of exceptions to this rule but 95% of moderators are drawn from the VIP pool.

-Participate!-

As an administrator.. I could sit back and work on the site.. own n00bs and let mods take care of the work.. but I don't.. im in there; posting about my favorite pokemon and voting in polls and making jokes about p0wning fools... and you can believe me when I say Ill be doing so in Brawl. + =

Participate in EVERYTHING.. join the chat.. get on Vent.. get to know the moderators and administrators. Fill up the ranks in the chat rooms. Post in all of the forums.. not just the forum games or pokemon forums (not that they're not awesome!) Submit a review, submit an article, post some quality threads! Advertise WiiPals..

Participate and be an active member in all aspects of the site.


-Don't tell us, show us-

Quality posts, mature demeanor, and overall helpfulness is something we want to SEE, not be told about from you in a PM. Expressing your interest is fine but SHOWING us that you want it and are capable of it is a whole 'nother level.


-Find a specialty-

Specialties are a sure-fire way to becoming a staff member at WiiPals. Find something that would help WiiPals.. purpose it.. and take charge! Many of our mods continue to offer amazing ideas for the site. Pit with the Myspace features, Tep with the chat room, fzl with Vent etc etc.. If you can OFFER us something.. then we're more inclined to want you on board.


-Asking about becoming a moderator isn't really a plus-

Especially after I post this sticky.. NO MORE EXCUSES!

This site lists replies to forums backward from what i'm used to, can I change it?

Yes you can. Click the CP button at the top of the page. Then select edit options. Once there just look for the Thread Display Options, and change it.

I keep getting e-mails (or want them) when someone replies to a thread, how can i change this

Easy. Go to your CP and edit options. In there change the Messaging & Notification to the way you would like.

- Can you add more Smiles for us to use?

Sure we can! You just need to show us ones you'd like. Please remember though, we are a Nintendo site, and thus would like as much of our stuff to be Nintendo related. Post the smiles you would like us to consider HERE

I have been banned for X days from the entire site. Why? And what should I do.

Banning is taken very seriously by staff. We do not, and will not give out bans "for no reason". When you log in if banned the reason for the ban will be shown. If given a ban that lasts X amount of days it is considered by staff to be your final warning. In some cases this step may be skipped and a permanent ban will be used. In the case of a temporary ban, just sit back and wait until its lifted and everything will be back to normal. In the case of a permanent ban there is nothing you can do.

May i create more than one account?

No. Any such accounts found can and will be banned. Stick with your original.

If my account has been banned can I make another?

No you may not. With temporary bans, making a new account will get the 2nd permanently banned, and risk the ban on the original one becoming longer. In the case of a permanent ban, the new account will be permanently banned also.

- Can I give out Links to my website?

We do not allow advertisements for other websites here. This includes but is not limited to Having links in Signatures, putting links in posts, or PMing other members links.

This rule is STRICTLY ENFORCED, and and is a BAN ON SIGHT OFFENCE!
