This is just a thread for showing all you need to know of web comic making.... Due to time constants I won't be able to put down everything at once. But I'll make updates to it whenever I can... also all of you are free to leave replys with other comic creating tutorials in it. Well lets begin.

Uploading your comics

This seems real basic for most people but it's the best place to start. Here are some things you need to know when it comes to uploading images.

1. You need to have a site that will upload the images for you. I recommend either Photobucket or Imageshack although I believe Photobucket has more organizing options. Here are the links to both of those sites.

2. Once your up on the site you'll want to create an account... you can do this by simply clicking on either "Sign Up" for ImageShack or "Join Now" for Photobucket. Just follow the steps and your own ImageShack/PhotoBucket account is yours.

Extra Note:

3. Once you have created your own ImageShack/PhotoBucket account your ready to start posting your own web comic here on Nintendo Worlds. First of all you'll need to upload it to your account. Now how you do that for ImageShack vs. Photobucket is slightly different so I'll go through each of them separately.

ImageShack:

• Make sure you are under the "My Images" section
• To your right you'll see a bunch of Mini-Sections with blue categories look under the category label "Action"
• Under the Action label look for "Upload Image", (it should even be bolded for you), click it.
• Click on Browse and pull up the image as for "Resize Image" an "800 X 600" size usually works best for me.
• Once you've done that, just click upload and there is you comic on ImageShack

Photobucket:

• Just look for the upload box on the top of your upload collection
• Make sure the "My Computer" is checked
• Go to reduce size part and adjust the screen size to what works for you, once again, I use "800X600"
• Finally click select files and watch them upload.

4. Once you've uploaded your comic(s) you can then put them on the site by taking the Image code they give you and copying and paste it here. If you use photobucket, just look under the picture next to IMG code to find it. If you use ImageShack you'll have to click the little "i" button to pull up the image codes. When you do this be sure to uncheck the "detail" check box... trust me it will save you a lot of trouble.

5. Once you got the proper image code just copy that and paste it into a forum post. You don't even need to click the image tag when pasting it into your post. The image code already has the "[img]" thing included.

Making a comic index:

OK this is something anyone can and if you have more than 5 comics should use so listen up.

First of all I highly recommend making your index on the very first post of your thread. If you would rather put all of this in a blog be sure to put the link to the blog on the first post of the thread and label it as an index.

I have noticed two different way of making indexes. I will start by explaining the way I do it and then go into the other way which may actually be easier.

Way one:
Locate the post your first comic is on...

Once you find that post, look for a number in the upper right corner of the post... this is the most confusing part so I have a picture of it...

Once you've found the number *cough* it's the circled one with stars in the pic*cough* click on it and you will pull up the post in it's own separate page.

Take the url of this and copy it. Then go back to you index and edit it....
To get the link to say what you want while taking you were you want, click on the Gobe-bar thing as soon in this picture....


When you click it, you'll be asked the URL of your link. Delete the www it shows, then paste the URL you copied from before, and then click OK.
If you do this right you'll get something kind of like this...

(I took out front and end brackets only because that's the only way I can keep it from becoming a link for demonstration purposes.

Now it should already be highlighted for you but you want to take the part that I have encoded in red from the link and replace it with whatever you want the link to say.

Don't mess with the blue part that is what makes your link well link to something. So once you've done all this it should look like this when you save.

....and that's it. Just follow these steps for each comic you want to add to your index. I've probably made this more complicated then it needed to be but I just wanted to make sure I've covered everything. Let me know if I went too into detail. :P

I'm bumping this thread so everyone can see the index tutorial. I really think anyone with more than 5 comics or more than 1/2 pages of post should have one to some degree. That is just me... but I strongly believe it's very useful especially if people want to see your past work.

Edit: Also if anyone has any tutorial suggestions or wanta post a how to for something related to the comic section post it here so I can update the main thread.

Nice jackit it is very nice that will help some new members or just members that have been on the site for a long time and then they are just new to the comic making stuf then they could come here and then they would go oh that is some good stuff I think I might do it. Then they would tell their new friends to come and check out this site and that they should start to make comics for it and then you could tell them to come here and then say to them this is all you will need to know for making comics for this site and then they would be like oh very nice that helped me a lot so then they will start to make comics and next thing you know it all these people love the person's comics so he keeps on making them so he has fun and says thanks Jackitlong for the tips.
