Jima:

Pokemon Pearl

This game is one of the best Pokemon additions ever made across the world and its hard to argue with that statement, with over 600 hours of game play available it is hard to say that this addition to the Pokemon series is bad.

With the recent addition of a whole new Pokedex it really steps the game up a bit with new battle techniques available and you can show them of over Nintendo Wifi, which is where I got 500+ hours of game play. It is simple as adding your friends code and just jumping on Wifi to either battle or trade with them.

Pokemon Pearl is great, not just because of the online feature its because there are lots of activities to do after you have defeated the game. Like going underground to obtain shards, heart scales and to even play against friends! A GTS system which allows you to obtain any Pokemon and trade them another Pokemon and you don't even have to know the person! Plus much more!

Overall this is the best game I have ever bought and it was well worth its price. Best game ever.

Fame:

Super Smash Bros Brawl

I really like SSBB. I first noticed I liked it after the first match I played on it. After thats first match I just couldn't stop playing. I was intrigued by the new characters, stages, etc. So I thought hey why don't I unlock everyone?

I started by going to the Subspace Emissary an using that to get my characters. I thought that would be the easiest way and I was right. One night I had my friend over and he helped me. Thast when I realized I needed to get wi-fi. It was fun to play with other people then just myself. So I got wi-fi and started playing people round world. I started to love wi-fi and it has always keeping me playing this game.

The make your own stage part really caught my eye too. I mean, the old one didn't have it and this one did. It was really a great addition. So I started with map making, and it really took off. Making decentmaps isn't so hard anymore. With practice anything can happen. Though making really good stages can be a challenge, but I will just keep trying till I get it right.

Fianlly I loved the picture taking feature. Me and my friends would make scenes for pictures to be taken. I have a great album of cool, funny, and stupid but funny pictures. This also kept me going on this game. Finally this game had all great features that really made love this game.

Why I like Mario Kart Wii-

I like to play Mario Kart Wii because there are miriad ways to play the game. You have so many different ways to play it concerning the controller and add on's. I play it using a nunchuck and a remote but played it with the Wii Wheel up to a month ago. I like being able to do the manual drift because it adds to the game play. It pulls you into it that way. I do not regularly play using the manual drift because I am not any faster at it that way. Honestly, I am faster on auto drift.
There are many ways to play the game, from 50cc (beginner) to Mirror 150cc(Hardest?) For the game to be the funnest, you really need to have wi-fi. With this, the game never seems to get old because there are always people online that are in your general skill level. Going online also lets you join in on tournaments that seem to be bi-monthly if I remember correctly. Having wi-fi also lets you race against friends, clans and guilds. I am currently in one of the most active clans out there called Nintendo New Schoolers, NNS. The involvement in the "clan" has kept me interested in the game far longer than I would have expected. I have made great friends through my clan that I consider actual friends. I like that aspect of the game. It made me search out for friends to play against and I found that and so much more! Mario Kart is the reason that I joined Nintendopals.
I have had this game for over six months and I am still enjoying it like it is brand new! That is important in a game for me. Some games all you do is play them through once and then you are done with them. The last game that I enjoyed this much was ages ago seemingly!
Overall this game offers the best extended play that I have found out for the Wii. Even after you finish getting all of your cup races and cc's, you have tons more to still do! By inviting friends to play, you can hypotheticly play forever and have a new game each race! I wish that all of my friends had this game because I like to play it that much! I hope that those reading will at least consider renting the game to try it yourself! It is incredibly entertaining and competitive at the same time. Now go enjoy the game!

Why I love...

Mario Kart Wii... When I hear the name of the game such fond memories come to my mind. I haven't got the game for a long time, but I got truly 'addicted' to it.

I still remember the first time I played it. It was between two other games when I got my Wii on Christmas 2008. The other games were 'Super Smash Brothers: Brawl' and 'The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess'. The three most popular games for the Wii at the time, but Mario Kart caught my attention. I believe the main reason was because I haven't played a Mario Kart game in such a long time (the last time was on the SNES version, on an emulator) so I was wondering if I was still good for it. Took my Wii, connected it and after playing Wii Sports for a while, I inserted the disk. Waited 'till the select menu appeared. Everything was pretty much common sense so I selected Grand Prix, Yoshi, the Standard Bike and DS Yoshi Waterfalls for my very first race on the game. The race started... God knows the last time I had so much fun playing a game. I was playing like a complete 'n00b', without knowing how to use the Wii Wheel, always hitting the walls... It was a very enjoyable and fun experience. I laughed and laughed with my sisters while playing it for the first time. Since then I loved the game.

Now, to the reasons of why I love it. Mario Kart Wii shows one of the best gameplay and multiplayer experiences I have ever got the chance to test. As a racing game, it's packed with replay value. By having Wi-Fi features the fun of this game will never end with the Worldwide Races and the experience of playing with your friends all over the world is amazing. In my opinion, the selection of courses that Mario Kart Wii has is pretty nice. The graphics are lovely (They could get some work, though) and the soundtrack is excellent. I loved the new drifting system and I was quite surprised because they introduced bikes, which are now my favorite rides. The game also includes a wide roster of characters. Most are the classical ones, others were left out and new ones that never appeared in a Mario Kart game before were included. (Like Baby Daisy and Rosalina) From what I've heard, many of the old fans were very pleased with the outcome of this game.

All in all, Mario Kart Wii is an incredible that is now one of my favorites of all time, even if it may have its letdowns. It was worth my money and I was quite pleased with the new features, gameplay and characters. It's an excellent game which I'll always have in my memories from the fun, bad and incredible experiences I had with it.

Monopoly

The latest installment of Monopoly includes the classic capitalist game everyone loves to play so they can screw their friends and subsequently pwn them with a hotel on Boardwalk. It is standard fare and if you like playing Monopoly on your TV screen, have fun, but I want to talk about what's new and unique to this game. It introduces new game boards such as a jungle board, a futuristic board, and a cheese board with property names and pieces that match the board themes. For example, the jungle board has place names like Tiger Tropics with a tree frog game piece or a jeep game piece, while the cheese board just names off various cheeses like Mozzarella or Feta with pieces like a cheese grater or a ridiculously phallic looking loaf of bread. Very original, right? You unlock new boards by filling Passports. When you play a new board, every time you own a new property that you have never owned before, you get a stamp in your passport. Fill your passport and unlock a board. That sounds simple, right? Well, that's where the simplicities end and the stupidity begins because it also introduces a new game mode called "Richest Edition", which is apparently EA's codename for a game mode that requires zero skill and is full of arbitrary and redundant crap. It is the reason I hate this game.
In the Richest game mode you start out by choosing your board, your piece, and a name. You apparently MUST play against 3 other people. You can play with 3 friends, or 3 computer bots, depending on how many friends you have and would subsequently like to lose by forcing them to play this piece of junk. So, you, and any friends or victims, must choose pieces and names for yourself and any CPU players. Imagine the naming possibilities! Then it tells you to "Forget everything you know (and love) about Monopoly"... The game starts with a ridiculously long introduction to the rules by a blathering old man whom you can only presume suffers from Alzheimer’s and/or dementia. His name is Mr. Monopoly. Again, how original. I remember when he was known as "Rich Uncle Pennybags" back in the 80's and 90's, but I digress. Sadly, you can't skip through the introduction the first time you play. Get used to not skipping his speech or animations, because even if you play it 50 times, every other stupid thing he does or says can not be skipped. The same is true for the classic Monopoly game mode. You could probably finish a Richest game on the easiest difficulty, 6 rounds, in about 5 minutes. However, with this force fed mindless drivel the game will actually last about 20 minutes. You are eventually shown four dice being rolled. "Oh, I wonder what the dice have in store this round!" he might say. It will then go to a mini game. Yes, a mini game, in Monopoly.

The real concept behind this game mode is like a Monopoly version of Bomberman Land where if you want to actually play anything resembling classic Bomberman, you must beat a ridiculous mini-game that has almost nothing whatsoever to do with Bomberman. In Richest, you must do well in mini games if you want to ever own and retain property, or at least that's what the game wants you to believe. The whole thing screams "use the Wii!", except that the Wii control motions are about as stupid as they are dangerous to nearby people, lamps, or pets. One such example is a mini game in which you must drive a train and stop at 4 stations before your opponents can do the same task. The controls for this sound simple; hold the wii-mote vertical to speed up, hold it horizontal to slow down and stop. The only problem is that the game doesn't seem to recognize anything between full speed and full brake. So, if you stop too soon, actually creeping up to the station is nearly impossible and results in a motion mimicking that of the one armed drummer from Def Leppard. The PS3 version uses X for accelerate and O for brake, and it actually is occasionally possible to creep up to the station if you're lucky. If you didn't mute your TV during his introduction, you'll know that the player who won the mini-game gets to choose a dice, followed by the person who finished 2nd and 3rd and 4th. Once a player chooses a die, and the highest die will be picked first, you witness copies of their game piece being dropped onto a corresponding number of "random" properties. Once you watch every last piece from all 4 players fall to the board, Mr. Moronically decides to walk around the board. As he passes a piece, if the property is not owned, the player whose piece was on it gets the property. Yes, that's right. There is no money in this game either. Your worth is determined by the number of properties you own, and their value. So, as he wanders the board handing out deeds like tissues in a funeral parlor, you'll contemplate gouging out your eyes, and eventually he'll return to Go where you get to do the process all over again. Roll the dice, play an impossible to control mini game, pick a die, and watch pieces fall from the sky. If he passes your piece and it is on a property owned by someone else, Mr. Makehimstop will inform you that you must "pay rent" by giving them a property you own. Property value and rent cost are irrelevant, so expect to see Mediterranean Ave., or its equivalent, be passed around like mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving. Paying rent is not a big deal, but if you land on a monopoly, it costs 2 properties, a monopoly with a house is 3 properties, and one with a hotel, I believe, is 5 properties. I say "believe" because the odds of getting hotels in the beginner game are about the same as winning the power ball jackpot. In order to do this, you must first own all 3 properties (or 2 in the case of the blue and purple properties... you know which ones I mean), then you must randomly land on one of them, sacrifice a goat, and land on one of them yet again. However, the game should really be called "How to build a Socialist Dictatorship" because if ANYONE lands on a Community Chest, it automatically goes to the poorest player... who gets to choose and steal 3 properties from anyone. So, kiss your Monopoly goodbye. Thus, hotels are pretty much impossible, because if the game goes through a round without giving out a community chest, it's a miracle, certified by the Pope himself. Oh... and Chance... Yeah. If you're not ranked 1st, you get to steal a property from someone richer than you, which the CPU uses to bust monopolies. If you're the richest and have a monopoly you get free houses, or hotels if you already have houses. If you're the richest and have no monopoly, Mr Mononucleosis will say "this... 'Chance'... has passed you by." and you are screwed and out of luck, and likely flipping off the old man for his lame pun. When all 6 rounds are finished, whoever is the richest is the winner.

[i]"I CAN SEE YOUR SOUL!!!![/"i]

I wanted to test out how much skill is truly required to win at this, so I played with a 2nd human player, who did nothing during mini games, because it was a controller sitting in an empty chair. I would pick random properties for them when they owed, and steal monopolies, like the CPU does, when they got community chest. Guess what happened. They finished round 6 in 1st place with hotels on boardwalk and park place. No joke. You can finish dead last in every stupid mini-game, which isn't hard to do, and the game will compensate by landing on 2 - 3 community chests every round from about round 3 onward. So, if you hate the original Monopoly, are a fan of Socialism, or you are a masochist who loves computer animated old men who never shut up, this game is right up your alley. If not, the only reason you should even consider buying this game is to destroy it and save future generations from this perversion of a beloved classic game. If you want to play the original Monopoly, buy the actual board game and deal with learning how to add and subtract, because this video game version is terrible.

I'm gonna go with Snave, but seriously, the competition was close.

1. Brilliant read, was actually entertaining.
2. Not only that, but wasn't immensely long, and actually shed some light on the game.

Great 'lil competition though, keep it up guys!
