Nintendo has been well-known for its lack of enthusiasm when it comes to game demos. However, it looks as though Nintendo may be changing its tune. At the most recent Q&A session of Nintendo’s Semi-annual Financial Results Briefing, company president Satoru Iwata indicated that demos of upcoming WiiWare titles will be introduced. And in fact, Iwata hinted that gamers may even see the first demos sometime this month. This is sort of an experiment for now, though, and and it isn’t entirely clear if Nintendo will continue to release additional demos.

The president hopes that this move will encourage Wii owners to become more involved with the Wii Shop Channel. Iwata told investors at the Q&A sessions that sales of digital downloads haven’t been a huge hit yet.

Hmmmm, I like this idea cause I really dont like spending points on wiiware that I wont play as much or like. Playing the demos will allow you to preview before you actually buy. The only thing that worries me is if whether youll have to pay for the demo or not.

Great news if you ask me.

I'm sure pretty much everyone has a Wiiware/VC game they regret downloading, so maybe this can prevent that.
And on the other end of the scale, it gives us a chance to try out good Wiiware games we may have otherwise overlooked, and in turn, rewards developers for making quality games.

ohmygawd finally. I have wasted a lot of money on vc/wiiware and dsiware, that just failed. Now I can finally try it...hopefully it will transfer to VC and dsiware too. that would be epic.
* then let us return games for a refund... that would make it perfect*

Now this makes sense.
I haven't bought too many bad Wiiware games, but I can imagine that I would be pretty upset if I wasted my money on a shabby one. I'm definitely glad that Nintendo has finally jumped onto the demo train.

Holy crap, nintendo finally sees why the competition has playable demos before buyin the game is key. I know a ton of ppl that wasted their points on ridiculous wiiware games.

This is good to hear. It will definitely be helpful to everyone because they can preview the game before they buy it, which I wish I had have been able to do when I was looking at Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.
