This is a nice exclusive we have here at MaxConsole courtesy of Artik from www.Logic-sunrise.com on the Wii 2. The actual information is said to have been leaked from an internal source of the marketing Nintendo France Service. Unlucky for them, this kind of information should stay internal, but that's not our philosophy.

- The Wii2 system will feature a Blu-Ray drive with a secondary aim of stopping piracy.
- 1080P and lower resolutions will be supported, for blu-ray movies and games.
- The release date is scheduled for third quarter of 2010.
- The release will be worldwide and on the same day for all countries.
- A scheme will be available in which it is possible to trade in the original Wii for a cheaper price on the new Wii 2.

Moreover, Nintendo wants to make a worlwide annoucement, only one month before release date. Huge publicity and Viral Marketing will be utilized to create the Buzz. Official pictures are not yet available, and more specs will be released in due course.

Why do we believe it at all ?

* Artik from Logic-Sunrise.com has regularly provided news to MaxConsole and has a lot of 'insider' contacts.

* Nintendo has suggested that it's time they embraced high definition technology for the Wii and Blu-ray has firmly established itself. So a Wii 2 with Blu-ray support does make sense.

Holy friggin crap.
3rd quarter of next year? I knew they would be releasing some new iteration of Wii, but I had no idea it would be this early. Looks like were' gonna get some HD goodness afterall.

1080p ugrade for games and movies is a plus.
Id trade my wii in(rather sell it ebay for a killing) for it. Itll help alleviate the price differential that I have to pay in comparison to what I paid for the wii I have now

Cant wait to see marketing scheme they'll have though. Nice that we'll get all at the same time. Hopefully, we can install homebrew on the wii 2.

I think this is fake. It should be at least looked at skeptically for a second.

1) Nintendo is pretty good at keeping secrets.

2) It seems too coincidental that only a week or so after Miyamoto told interviewers that Nintendo would keep up with technology, that this is "leaked"

3) And that it's coming so soon? By next year even, not even letting the motion plus sink in for a bit?

Hey, I think if it is true, that's great...but if it's not, just remember that Nintendo hasn't shown us anything yet.

Obvious fakeness aside, I wouldn't be surprised if it were to turn out to have some truth by chance.

The way Miyamoto has spoke lately, particularly about embracing HD, and the talk of Nintendo going duel-strategy in the same way as Sony with the PS2/PS3, with the Wii still being supported for the clueless mums, and the Wii 2 for us "seasoned" gamers...

Would make sense.

Not sure what the deal would be about Blu-ray though, being owned by Sony and all that...

That's what I thought. Surely Nintendo wouldn't want to pay their competitors.

I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo came out with a "gamer" version of the Wii (as in, one only targeted towards gamers) but it still wouldn't surprise me.

Sony only owns a bit of Blu-Ray, Otherwise how the hell do other Companies make Blu-Ray Players?

Thank you, erik. Geeze people. We'll get a new Nintendo eventually, but till nintendo says: "Wii 2" I think we should all just take a break and wait for it to happen, yes?
